Geoforce runs best using the Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome web browsers. However, Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 9 and 10 are also supported.

Geoforce Terminology

Everyone has a different name for things. Here, we will define the different concepts used within Geoforce.

An Asset represents something which you are used to working with. A truck, a tank, a generator.

Asset ID

Some companies use “ID Numbers” to differentiate their assets. This field is here to accomodate such needs. You can choose any value for this field.
Every asset must have a non-blank Asset ID. If you can’t think of a good ID to use, just use numbers (1, 2, 3, …)

Asset Name

This is a short descriptive name for this asset. “Ford F150″, “Mud Tank”, “Sling” and such would usually be seen here.
Every asset must have a non-blank Asset name.

This is a longer description of what this asset is. These notes are from you, to you.
You do not need to put anything in this box.

Asset Type

Choosing an “Asset Type” will determine the availability of fields in the Geoforce application. Most of the time, you want to choose “Standard”, however, if you have purchased tags which are hard-wired into your vehicle, you would want to use an “Asset Type” of “Vehicle.”

A “Tag” is a device which you purchased from Geoforce, which wirelessly communicates to Geoforce the tag’s location. Within the geoforce system, tags are largely represented by a “Tag ID”.

For customers who purchase an “XS-” tag (otherwise known as a ‘Satellite Tag’), a “GPS Tag” is the unique ID for these tags.

Sharing / Asset Sharing

Geoforce allows the unique ability for companies to “share” visibility of assets to other companies. This is particularly useful in the case of rental companies who wish to offer their customers visibility to specific assets.
