Creating An Asset

To view a short tutorial on how to create an asset click Here

Today we are going to show you how to create an asset. This is an essential step to seeing your assets report data on the map and list views.

To start, select the tab marked “Setup”. This part of the application allows you to create users, assets, groups and geofenced areas.  To create an asset Select the “Assets” icon.

The Asset area will list all of the assets already existing in your account. To create a new asset, select “New Asset” in the upper right hand corner.

There are a series of fields to fill out with the identifying information about this asset. For today’s example, we are going to have the Asset Name be “Frac Tank” and the Asset ID be “Tank 101”. You can choose any name for the asset that makes sense to you.

You can enter any data you wish in the description to further identify your asset. This data will only show up in the Asset Description Page under the summary tag.

The most important part of creating an asset is to make sure that it is paired with the correct GPS Tag.  When your tag is installed on your asset, have the installing party notate the serial number on the back of the device.  This will allow you to attach the correct tag to its asset.

Please note, if you do not see the serial number you are looking for, it is most likely not currently activated.  To activate a tag simply email helpdesk@geoforce.com requesting activation or call the technical support number at 1-972-546-3878

Once you have selected the correct tag, you can choose the asset type. In this example, we will select standard, as that is the tag type for any battery powered satellite tracker. Should you be creating an asset for a vehicle tracker, make sure to select vehicle.

Once you’ve verified all the data is correct, select “Save Changes”. Now your asset will display data in the map and list views.
